The beginning of the year 2025, I received a promotion that required me to travel 2-3 weeks a month, and my work schedule became less flexible requiring me to resign from the Ozaukee County Board. When you resign from the board you send your resignation letter the Sheriff. Below is my resignation letter to the Sheriff.
Dear Sheriff Knowles,
I am writing to inform you that, due to an expansion of my role and responsibilities at my company, I will be unable to continue serving on the County Board. My new responsibilities now require frequent travel outside of Wisconsin, which has made it increasingly difficult to attend County Board meetings. While I had hoped my travel schedule would lessen, it has unfortunately gone in the opposite direction.
As a result, I must submit my resignation from the County Board, effective September 1, 2025. It has truly been an honor to serve the residents of Ozaukee County, and I am deeply grateful for the experience and the opportunities I’ve had.
Best regards,
Scott Rishel - County Supervisor, District 14
I served two terms on the Ozaukee County Board from 2014 - 2018. In 2018 I decided to not run for reelection. In March of 2021, I was asked to fill a vacancy on the board when the existing supervisor moved out of the district. In 2022 I ran for reelection and currently serving on the County Board. I decided to serve another 2 years if elected on April 2, 2024.
Commitee and Board Experience

I have been a proud resident of Grafton for 24 years and could not have found a better place to raise my two daughters with my wife, Michelle. The peace, safety, values, and beauty of Ozaukee County have been a blessing to our family.
My commitment to the residents of Ozaukee County is to work to deliver the best quality of life possible, in a fiscally responsible manner, while protecting individuals' rights and freedoms . Sometimes this balance can be difficult to achieve, but I believe my years running a successful business has given me the skills and discernment needed to protect this special community for future generations.
"Government's first duty is to protect the people, not run their lives"
Ronald Regan
I believe government has crossed the line in that they are mandating how we will live our lives under the guise of "protecting" the people. It's OK to protect the people but never at the expense of violating Constitutional Rights. You can see this with attempts to eliminate our right to keep and bears arms, mask and vaccine mandates, disregarding voting laws, increased taxed burdens and the censorship of narratives that do not support larger government agendas.
On April 20, 2021 the Ozaukee County Board passed Resolution 21-1 Protecting the Rights of Ozaukee County Citizens stating; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Ozaukee County Board of Supervisors that no agent, employee or official of Ozaukee County in his or her official capacity shall knowingly participate, whether by act or by omission, in conduct that infringes upon any individual’s rights, as expressed by the United States Constitution and the Constitution of the State of Wisconsin. The resolution passed 16 - 9 which I fully supported.
